The University of Oregon College Republicans chapter is the largest in the Pacific Northwest, yet we pride ourselves in the close-knit, family atmosphere among our members. Our club has three priorities: campus involvement, political opportunities, and social engagement.
On campus, we hold weekly meetings on Thursdays at 6:00pm in Lillis 111. These engaging meetings typically include presentations by members, discussion on national issues, guest speakers, and more. We also get involved on campus through special tabling events, members appearing on campus radio shows, campus clean ups, and an annual, well-attended College Republicans vs College Democrats debate.
Politically, members from our chapter attend the Dorchester Conference every year, and in election years, we assist candidates with phone banking, canvassing, and social media work. For those with interested in a career in politics, our members have had political internships, roles in campaigns, and lobbied on issues in D.C.
Socially, our group had a great year last year. Highlights include: a weekend trip to Crater Lake, a campaign deployment on the Oregon coast, football tailgates, a “Roast Night”, frequent target shooting trips, a day at the lake, and a retreat on the Rogue River.
Going into my third year with UOCR and my last year of college, I truly believe being a College Republican has been the most rewarding experience of my college career. This is more than a club. I have gained political opportunities, developed principles at a formative time in my life, and most importantly, found a group of lifelong friends through UOCR. I hope that you will find the same.
Regardless of political orientation, we encourage you to attend a meeting and join the discussion. Finally, please be sure to like our Facebook page for updates on our events and activities on campus.
